Nestled along S Military Hwy in Chesapeake, Mi Rincon Latino Taqueria y Pupuseria is an inviting Mexican restaurant that promises an authentic taste of Latin America’s vibrant culinary traditions. This unassuming gem serves up an extensive menu that will delight seasoned lovers of Mexican and Salvadoran cuisine as well as newcomers eager to explore bold, fresh flavors.
At the heart of Mi Rincon Latino’s offerings are its remarkable pupusas—savory, handmade corn tortillas stuffed with a variety of fillings like cheese-only “solo queso,” chicharrón (fried pork skin), loroco flower, and a hearty mix of beans and cheese. Each pupusa, priced at just $4.25, delivers a warm, satisfying bite that perfectly balances crispy edges with gooey, flavorful fillings.
The taco selection is equally impressive, featuring standout options such as Asada Chorizo and Buche Tacos, Birria Tacos and their Birria de Res variety, as well as unique specialties like Tacos de Lengua (tongue) and the California Burrito—a hearty, flavor-packed creation that Nashville locals rave about. The tortillas are notably warm and sturdy, supporting vibrant, well-seasoned meats that burst with layered spices and fresh ingredients in every bite.
Platillos like the Bistec Encebollado—a chopped steak gently simmered with tomatoes, onions, and jalapeños, served alongside rice, beans, and tortillas—bring traditional home-style cooking to the table, rich with comforting, deeply savory notes. For seafood aficionados, the Coctel de Camarón bursts with bright, zesty flavors blending shrimp with fresh cilantro, tomato, and a hint of tangy Worcestershire sauce that invigorates the palate.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere strikes a genuine, laid-back chord. Guests frequently note the charming “hole-in-the-wall” vibe, with additional seating available in a cozy back room complete with a fully stocked bar—ideal for lingering over a Michelada or sharing Plátanos Fritos and guacamole with friends. Some reviews mention the space could benefit from a refresh, but this only enhances the feeling of discovering a beloved local secret where “fresh” and “authentic” take center stage.
Customer testimonials reflect a passionate following: Derrick Johnson was pleasantly surprised by the freshness of the food and the welcoming quietness, calling it possibly his new favorite spot. Alejandro Muniz-Pellicia raves about the flavorful carne asada and hearty tortillas, boldly declaring this the best tacos in the 757 area. Robert Soler praises the steady stream of to-go orders as evidence of the community’s devotion, labeling the food absolutely delicious despite the humble surroundings. Even those who found the service slow or the ambiance “meh” acknowledge the genuine authenticity and crave-worthy flavors.
Mi Rincon Latino Taqueria y Pupuseria is more than a restaurant—it’s a culinary haven for those in search of honest, soulful Latin American food made with care and tradition. Whether you are picking up a quick bite or settling in for a relaxed meal with friends, this charming taqueria delivers vibrant tastes that linger long after the last bite.
Who would have known!? Tucked away all nice and quiet. Nice little place that was unassuming when I first walked in. There is extra seating in the back along with a fully stocked bar! The food was fresh and easily beat out many of the other Latino/Mexican Restaurants I have been to. This might just as well be my new favorite place!!
This place has the best Tacos in all of the 757, been to many Mexican restaurants and taquerias, and this one takes the cake. The carne asada is incredibly flavorful and the tortillas warm and sturdy. Just wow.
This small, hole-in-the-wall spot is truly a hidden gem! It’s clear they have a huge local following, as evidenced by the steady stream of to-go orders. The food is authentic, fresh, and absolutely delicious. While the place could use a bit of remodeling, it’s easy to understand why they might not have time to close for renovations with such high demand!
I wanted to give it a 5 star, but the ambiance inside the restaurant is meh. The service is slow, and they took their time to serve the food. Food wise, it was delicious, but sadly, they do not offer chips and salsa here. It is an authentic Mexican restaurant but we'll not be coming back here.
Being from New Mexico, I was so happy when a co-worker picked us up some tacos from here! They were absolutely delicious and authentic! It's so close to work, I'll definitely be coming here for my taco fix!
